Hi all

I am in the UK and have a busy full time job in a large company. Our IT networks security protocol restricts what I can run and which websites I can access. I spread bet through IG Index so use their mobile phone platform for dealing but their mobile charts are basic to say the least. I trade Vahids signals 'blind' most of the time, which is fine as I trust him completely but how to trade my own when at work?
I have been pondering this for some time and considered buying a netbook with mobile network access, but that's not an ideal solution either. Working on the EMA/RSI indicator and having it enabled to send email alerts has made me more keen to find a solution, which I now believe that I have done...

Use Metatraders WindowScreenShot function to automatically capture screenshots and save them to my PC.
Run a Web Server on my PC to allow remote access to these images.

For the screenshots I scoured the web and found this 'Non-Trading EA Testing Indicator' http://articles.mql4.com/632. I have modified it slightly so that the screenshot is always saved with the same filename which is the Symbol and the Timeframe eg. GBPUSD60.gif
I then set up a profile to display the 5 minute, 1 hour, 4 hour and daily charts for the pairs I am monitoring, and attached the above EA.

I then set up the web server element of Opera Browser - under Opera Unite. This allows me to select a folder on my PC which is used as the root folder for my web site and also allows password protection, which I have enabled.

Finally I wrote a simple web page to display a table of links to the images.

I now have access to the charts from any PC and as they are just pictures there are no security issues at work. The only down side being that I have to leave my home PC running with Opera and FXPro running.

If anyone is interested in more detail please let me know.

Michael

Hi Michael,

Wow! You are great. I had never hear about such a way of having access to the charts. This is amazing.

Thanks Vahid

I have learned that if I keep plugging away at a problem I can usually find an answer. Often the first, obvious, answer isn't the best as is the case here.

All the best

Michael

The workings of computers and the internet is beyond me, I'm afraid. I'm a bit like a car driver that doesn't know how to change the oil?
It's impressive the way that you approach a problem and keep at it until you find a solution.

Obviously Michael knows much more than me in computer, but almost everything that I learned was because of a problem that had to resolved. I just didn't walk away. I insisted and found the solution finally.

Thanks Keith

Vahid is right about sticking with a problem until a solution is found and I see the same here with you and several others. We all suffer enough losses and failures to make walking away seem tempting but it is only by perseverance that we eventually gain the experience needed to succeed.

We grow by sharing our mistakes as well as our achievements.

Hi Michael,
this is well planed what you've done, very smart. This way you also don't need to buy and keep at work that extra notebook.

I never tried this Opera browser, could I please ask you for a quick and simple favor? I have a units conversion website and would like to see whether or not my javascript is functional in Opera. I tested it in all other browsers. Someone in the past emailed me with that they had a problem on Opera to use my converter code.

This is only on a joking mode; you can attract among your colleagues a few followers to forex and then in some time open a new forex trading section for the company ;)

Hi papek

I think I'm more stubborn than smart :)

If you post or PM me the link I'll try it out and let you know if it works in Opera.

Hi Michael,
It is real good to have personality like you do, to figure out stuff till it works, to have a crank on puzzles. Gaining more skills, that is only what we can take with us. Most people would not worry about taking a harder way even if it brought something positive to them, sort to speak.

Thank you! Just a quick input entry number like 1.2 or 1 1/2 etc. and a unit to a unit selection whether there is any output produced by the JS. I won't put it as active link: convert-to.com , Vahid said he is updating name servers and some members mentioned PM system might not fully work as yet.

Tried the Angle and the Rechargeable battery charging time vs. mA current calculator. No calculation happens in either. I can select multiple checkboxes on each side in both of them as well.

Tried both in FireFox and they worked a treat :D

Thank you, I got very good feedback when you mentioned that it's possible to select multiple checkboxes on a side I remember I was working on the same before. I will have to look at it also for Opera then when I have a day for it. Michael, can I do a favor for you in return? If you need or knew of something I could be of a help with please let me know!
