i've gone through the tutorials and getting an idea of how forex works. However I can't work out how to make a trade in metatrader. When i press the "new order" button, and try to change the stop or profit i just get "Invalid S/L or T/P" - any advice on what i'm doing wrong would be very much appreciated

Setting stops too close to the current price
Setting stop and targets the wrong way round - ie. if you are opening a long position, you are setting the stop above the current price and target below it ( short position - vice versa)

Hopefully you just have a practice account (if you dont, get one) and just play around. Not sure how long you have been using it, but new trading software and platforms will take a couple of weeks to get the hand of!

thanks guys - i found out the Invalid S/L or T/P was due to a too small stop loss.

I found this was quite common problem for beginners on the internet - if anyone has this problem make sure your dramatically increase the stop loss or profit
